Photography Seminars in Truro

If you are interested in learning to improve your photographic skills and in learning how to improve your prints of those beautiful images, then plan to attend two photography seminars presented by Imagemakers Photography Club.

The first seminar will be presented by Peter Steeper. Peter is a past president of the Photographic Guild of Nova Scotia and an employee of Xerox Canada. Peter's presentation is entitled, "How to Get the Most Out of Your Inkjet Printer". Peter will do a short Power Point presentation to introduce the topic but will spend most of his time doing demos to illustrate how to calibrate your computer to match the colour specs of your printer. He will also provide samples of prints done on a variety of paper types. In addition, he will discuss some of the most popular printers on the market and he will make recommendations as to how you can get "the most bang for your buck". Because of his job with Xerox as a colour consultant, Peter has a lot of experience and expertise in the area of colour printing and his easy going style will allow for considerable input from the audience.

The second seminar will be presented by Colin Campbell and is entitled "Landscape Photography - The Moment of Image Capture". Colin is a retired history teacher who had a casual interest in photography until 2005 when he attended a seminar by Stephen Scott Patterson. According to Colin, "That workshop gave me the inspiration and some skills to explore and experiment with the camera; to see things in a new and more creative way." Now it is Colin who may provide others with such inspiration. In his presentation, Colin will discuss lens choices, exposure issues (shutter speed, depth of field and using your histogram), composition, lighting, sharpness and motion. Colin will illustrate these concepts using many of his excellent and awarding winning images.

The seminars will be held in room 113, McCarthy Hall, The Learning Resource Centre on the NSCC campus on April 10th, 2010 from 9:00am to 12:00 noon. Everyone is welcome. The admission cost is $7.00 for members of Imagemakers Photography Club and $10.00 for non-members. Admission is payable at the door.
